A preliminary hearing date has been set, for 27 year old Tony Ray Stone of Ft Payne, who stands accused of killing his father – 48 year old Barry Turner Stone of Leesburg.

The body of Barry Stone was discovered behind Shiloh Baptist Church off County Road 51 back on October 12th; medical personnel from the Pine Ridge Volunteer Fire Department and DeKalb Ambulance service were called to the scene with law enforcement officials quickly responding to the location as well – it appeared that the victim had been stabbed multiple times in the chest and had been dead for several hours.

 After receiving positive identification from the FBI Fingerprint Lab – DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Investigators and Ft Payne Detectives began developing leads, with the victim’s son being named as the primary suspect a short time later.

Additional information was gathered from witnesses and from law enforcement officials, from Ft Payne, DeKalb County and Cherokee County.

District Attorney Mike O’Dell authorized a murder warrant to be issued for Tony Ray Stone after reviewing the information.

He currently remains in the DeKalb County Detention Center, under a bond of $250,000 with the preliminary hearing set for December 19th.
