THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A HIGH WIND WARNING… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 AM EST FRIDAY ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA.

A STRONG FRONTAL SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE STRENGTHENING OVER THE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AS IT MOVES EAST THIS AFTERNOON. THIS FRONT WILL MOVE RAPIDLY ACROSS NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA TONIGHT. AHEAD OF THE FRONT… A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE OVER MUCH OF NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA WILL SLOWLY RETREAT… WHICH WILL TIGHTEN THE PRESSURE GRADIENT. SOUTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 25 TO 35 MPH THIS EVENING WITH SOME GUST NEARING 35 TO 45 MPH TONIGHT.

A HIGH WIND WARNING MEANS A HAZARDOUS HIGH WIND EVENT IS EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF AT LEAST 35 MPH OR GUSTS OF 45 MPH OR MORE COULD TOPPLE TREES AND POWER LINES AS WELL AS CAUSE PROPERTY DAMAGE.
