There wasn’t a lot of thunder or lightning with the storms that rolled through Chattooga County last night, however there were some high winds which are being blamed for some power outages around the county.
Reports of power outages were received from several areas. The heavy winds blew down power lines into the roadway in the Sixth Street area of Summerville.
Overnight the county was under a tornado watch that expired at 3 a.m. With the large amount of rain the area has received over the past several days the ground was saturated causing some trees to be uprooted due to the high winds. In Floyd County there were reports of severe damage to at least four homes due to the high winds. In Cherokee County, Alabama there were some reported power outages.
