Chattooga County Public Works Director Lamar Canada told AM 1180 on Monday afternoon that Georgia Highway 114 in Lyerly will be shut down next week at the rail road crossing near Smith Iron Works.

Canada said that the Georgia D.O.T. is not happy with the work that was done on the crossing and is making the contractor re-do the work.  According to Canada the crossing "is fine going towards Lyerly, but it will throw you coming towards Summerville."

Highway 114 will be closed on Tuesday, October 4 and on Wednesday, October 5 for the work on the railroad crossing.  Commuters are being urged to find alternate routes those days.
