The Director of the Georgia Department of Transportation says that his department needs five or six "dry days" to complete the Highway 337 project just north of Menlo.

Over three weeks ago a Chattooga County deputy on patrol in the area found that the road has sank approximately 8 inches due to an old culvert pipe near Chelsea Creek that had rusted away.  The state DOT shut Highway 337 down in the area and after three weeks says that the project is still not completed.

Local motorist have been using Old Highway 337 as an alternate route while the road is being repaired.
