Hunters in Chattooga County anxiously await October each year for the beginning of firearms deer season, which is still a couple of weeks away.
Today, the second phase of Georgia’s Dove Season opens. Unlike the first season in September, dove hunters will be able to hunt from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. In September, dove season opened at noon. The second phase of dove season lasts from today through October 16. The limit is 15 per day with 30 in possession.
Primitive Weapons Deer Season will open next Saturday, October 15. Regular Firearm Deer Season will open the following Saturday, October 22.
