The Floyd County Coroner will conduct a routine inquest today in the death of an inmate that was being housed at the Floyd County Jail and died in March. Thirty Eight year old Larry Stokes of Gordon County died in the Floyd County Jail after an altercation with another inmate. Chattooga County and surrounding counties often house inmates at the Floyd County Jail due to overcrowding in their own facilities.  State Law mandates that an inquest be held any time an inmate dies in custody.
