Additional information has now been released regarding the discovery of a body on Cowan Creek Monday afternoon.

According to reports, an individual who was mowing grass near the boat docks saw the body and made the call to 9-1-1 shortly before 2:30pm.

Cherokee County Deputy Coroner Broderick Smith, told Weis Radio News that the victim was a 54 year old female from Cave Spring, Georgia.

Smith said that the body has been sent to the State Forensics Lab to determine the exact cause of death.

Cherokee County Sheriff`s Office Investigator Seth Rochester said late Monday that the case was being treated as a possible suicide.

The investigation into the incident is on-going.
