The Cherokee County Alabama Sheriff’s Department along with U.S. Park Rangers are investigating a stolen car incident that ended up with the car being driven off a cliff at Little River Canyon over the weekend.

According to reports the car was registered to someone in Chattooga County and was reported stolen early Sunday Morning.  U.S. Park Rangers at Little River Canyon National Park in Cherokee County received a report of a car "rolling off a cliff" Sunday afternoon around 1 PM.  When they arrived on the scene they found the car about 500 feet down in the Canyon.  It took a tow truck nearly two hours to recover the vehicle.

Cherokee County Sheriff’s deputies found that the car was stolen when they notified Chattooga County officials that the car was registered to a Chattooga County resident.
