Officials with Georgia Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine’s office were back in Summerville on Thursday as the investigation continues into Qenkor Construction – a Chattooga County company owned by William Benefield and his mother Sandra Weaver.
Benefield and Weaver have been charged with multiple counts of forgery and were arrested on Wednesday of this week. Chattooga County Sheriff John Everett told reporters that his department along with the insurance commissioner’s office have been investigating the company for several weeks.
Everett said "This should send a message to all citizens, especially senior citizens, to use caution when dealing with any company or individual offering to do work on their homes. Never deal with or sign a contract with a company or individual who tells you not to contact your insurance company. Call your local sheriff’s office if you have any questions about a contractor in your area.”
AM 1180 spoke with Investigator Larry Kellett on Thursday evening. Kellett said that the investigation continues and that other counties in Northwest Georgia are now looking at the case and may bring additional charges.
