A long time jailer with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department has been suspended. Sheriff Ralph Kellett suspended Carrie "Pam" Albert after revelations came to light that Albert had been convicted of a felony back in 1987.
According to today’s Summerville News, Albert was convicted of making fraudulent statements in order to obtain welfare payments. Sheriff – Elect John Everett told Jason Espy with The Summerville News that he had been looking into allegations about some Sheriff’s Department employees.
Sheriff Kellett suspended Albert with pay pending the results of an investigation into the charges.
