Jeff Mullis, the Republican State Senator from Chickamauga who represents Chattooga, Walker, Dade and part of Catoosa Counties in the State Senate, issued the following statement yesterday about the health care legislation passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on Sunday:
"The actions by the President and the Democratic-controlled Congress last night were clearly out of touch with the American people and the people of Georgia. Georgia’s budget is difficult enough and the federal government just heaped on another $500 million per year to our state. The health care bill passed by the U.S. House of Representatives will force everyone to purchase some kind of health insurance by 2014 or pay a fine. Georgians deserve the right to choose their own health care. Our country was founded on individual freedoms and liberties. I will continue to stand with my colleagues in fighting against federal mandates and federal encroachment on the people of Georgia"
