Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin alerts consumers to the recall of some flavored jelly beans because the packaging may contain peanuts not listed on the label.
The Jelly Belly Candy Company, Fairfield, Calif., is recalling cylinder-style packages of 49 Flavors Jelly Belly jelly beans. The package is incorrectly labeled and may contain peanut butter and peanut flour.
Those with an allergy to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The Jelly Belly 49 Flavors cylinder packages were shipped nationwide to about 200 independent stores between September 29 and October 30, 2009.
The product — packaged in a clear 7.5 -ounce acetate cylinder with white label on the bottom of the parcel — bears the production codes of 090925, 090928, 090929 or 091001. The UPC code is 071567989398.
Those with a peanut allergy who have purchased this product are urged by the Jelly Belly Candy Company to return it to One Jelly Belly Lane, Fairfield, Calif., 94533.
