State officials expect thousands of unemployed Georgians for what Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond calls a "job fair on steroids," featuring more than 100 potential employers.

The Georgia Department of Labor is sponsoring the career expo and job fair from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

In addition to employers with jobs to fill, the event will feature about 100 resource service providers, including several two- and four-year public and private educational institutions and technical colleges.

Thurmond says the event will lay the foundation for economic recovery in Georgia. He says it is believed to be the state’s largest job fair ever.

There will be workshops on career decisions and handling personal finances after a job loss.
