Shorter College is hosting a career and job fair at The Forum this Thursday. The event will begin at 9 a.m. and run until 2 p.m. The event is free. Organizers encourage those attending to sign up for a ticket, but they are not required.
Vendors at the fair will include the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce, local hospitals, several colleges, banks and other businesses. The fair is for anyone looking for a job, not just Shorter College students.
More than 65 companies are scheduled to attend the fair.
“We have seen an overwhelming response from local businesses and companies who have employment opportunities to offer the residents of Northwest Georgia,” said job fair organizer and Shorter College Professional Studies Corporate Liaison Britt Madden Jr. “But we also want to stress the fact that even with this strong turnout, we still have spaces available for anyone — any business or industry — that is interested in participating in the job fair.”
Four American Sign Language interpreters will be on hand at the job fair, offering assistance to those who need it. 24 computers will be available for prospective employees to fill out applications electronically when necessary.
Parking for job seekers will be available at three different lots near The Forum. These include the Third Avenue parking deck, Heritage Park and the Barron Stadium and Trailhead parking lots. Volunteers from Shorter along with the Georgia Department of Labor will be at each parking site. Georgia Department of Labor officials expect more than 1,000 people to attend the fair.
