A judge in Chattooga County Superior Court has reversed the dismissal of a Chattooga County Special education teacher.  Judge Kristina Cook Connelly said that the county’s board of education had not acted in accordance with Georgia’s “Fair Dismissal Act” which protects tenured teachers. The teacher, Fannie Searles was released from her teaching duties in October of 2007.  Judge Connelly’s order will require the school board to give Ms. Searles her job plus back pay from 2007.  According to the court order the School Board must also give Searles a one year teaching contract.
