Names were recently selected for the Chattooga County Grand Jury.  Those Grand Jurors will decide if there is enough evidence to proceed to trial in the upcoming term of the Superior Court.  AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio spoke with Lan Cordle, Clerk of Court in Chattooga County who explained the selection process for both Grand Jurors and the jurors that will hear the trials.  Cordle stated that contrary to popular belief, any adult in Georgia that has a driver’s license could be called for jury duty.  Many people believe that you must be registered to vote.   According to Cordle the list of potential jurors comes from both registered voters and a list of all adults with drivers’ licenses.  That list, which is computer generated is given to 6 Jury Commissioners who are appointed by the judges of the Superior Court.
