According to LaFayette police detective Darin Kelley, a fire at 202 E. Indiana St. on Wednesday around 10:30 p.m. has been confirmed as arson.

LaFayette public safety director chief Tommy Freeman said the residence is a vacant house and out-building.

Kelley said the fire started in the garage and out-building area.

An eyewitness said he saw someone light the building with a burning stick, then walk off.

Arson investigators were called out this morning to take a look at the scene and collect evidence.
