A Chickamauga woman who is a pastor’s wife has been charged with theft by conversion for allegedly swindling thousand of dollars from an elderly relative.

Christie Pinion Morgan of 380 Jill Lane turned herself in to Georgia Bureau of Investigation authorities Saturday evening, Aug. 27.

Morgan is accused of stealing the life savings of 63-year-old Jackie Humphrey, a disabled relative, and using the money to buy a $165,000 house with a pool just outside of Chickamauga.

Morgan is the wife of Roger Morgan, pastor of North LaFayette Baptist Church. Humphrey is a retired school-teacher who lives at Mary and Martha Personal Care, an assisted living residence in Rossville.

The bank at which alleged illegal withdrawals took place is in Catoosa County, so the case is being handled in Catoosa County Superior Court.
