THE CITY OF LAFAYETTE IS SEEKING BIDS ON A NEW METAL ROOF FOR THE PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING.  ROOF LEAKS FROM RECENT FLOODS HAVE CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE THROUGHOUT THE FORMER COCA-COLA PLANT… AND FIRE PERSONNEL ARE CONCERNED ABOUT SLEEPING THERE OVERNIGHT DUE TO MOLD CONTAMINATION. THEIR BUNKS HAVE ALREADY BEEN DISPOSED-OF DUE TO WATER DAMAGE.  PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR TOMMY FREEMAN ASKED FOR THE COUNCIL’S INPUT ON THE TYPE OF ROOF REPAIR MONDAY NIGHT… AND HE WAS ADVISED TO GET SPECIFICATIONS FOR A NEW METAL ROOF SYSTEM FOR THE BUILDING.  FEMA HAS AWARDED THE DEPARTMENT $9,500 FOR REPAIR TO THE BUILDING’S INTERIOR… BUT THAT WORK CAN’T BE DONE UNTIL THE ROOF LEAKS ARE FIXED… FREEMAN SAID.
