Lane closures started Monday at the new railroad bridge at the intersection of Martha Berry Blvd. and John Davenport Drive. Two lanes will be closed from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. daily as crews widen and reconstruct the road. Traffic will be reduced to one lane each way during the work period, which could last until late March. The scheduled construction work is part of a widening project for additional lanes and resurfacing on Martha Berry Boulevard. The project also includes the construction of a bridge over Norfolk Southern railroad and realignment of the railroad track. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by the end of May, at a construction cost of $10.3 million. Rome News Tribune
