Primary Election will be held in Chattooga County next Tuesday.  Voters across the state of Georgia will be headed to the polls to vote on a variety of state-wide officers including Governor and Lt. Governor.  There are important local elections on both the Democratic and Republican ballots as well.

Voters will have to choose between the Democratic or Republican ballots when they go to the polls.  Those who choose the Democratic ballot can vote on three contested school board races in Chattooga County.  Two school board members, Dot Johnson and Fuzz Anderson, are not running for re-election.  Those who choose the Republican ballot will decide the race for state senator for the 53rd District, currently held by Jeff Mullis of Chickamauga.  Mullis is being challenged by two fellow-Republicans, Jeremy Jones and Jim Pope.

Chattooga County’s Chief Registrar Elaine Pledger told AM 1180 that today, Friday, is the last chance for voters in the county to vote early.  Registered voters can go by the registrar’s office, located in the old McGinnis Drug Building, just south of the Courthouse and vote until 5 PM today.
