Northwestern Technical College serving Northwest Georgia graduated its last class ever June 19. However, eleven days prior “Georgia” Northwestern Technical College registered its first-ever group of students.
Northwestern Technical College will merge with its sister school, Coosa Valley Technical College in Rome July 1. The name of the new institution: Georgia Northwestern. More than 200 programs are being offered on the four campuses of Georgia Northwestern Technical College year-round. Summer quarter classes begin in Walker, Floyd, Gordon and Polk County, as well as online July 6. GNTC is Northwest Georgia’s largest college.
This year’s state budget will have three million dollars in it to help create another first for Georgia North-western. The first steps will be taken in building the Catoosa Campus of Georgia Northwestern at the corner of Cloud Springs Road and Three Notch Road. This facility is ten miles from the front gates of Enterprise South, the home of the new Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga
