The Thomas Family from Chattooga County was a part of the ninth annual radio Care – A- Thon sponsored by an Atlanta radio station. 14 month old Brinley Kate Thomas was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia when she was only 9 months old and has been undergoing chemotherapy for the past several months. Her mother, Renee Thomas is a speech therapist for the Chattooga County School System. She told the Rome News Tribune that Brinley’s treatments aren’t done yet. She will be undergoing inpatient care for six to eight months and may need a bone marrow transplant. Locally, a fundraiser is being held for Brinley with a raffle to win a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix.
