Lyerly Mayor Josh Wyatt is concerned about the vandalism that has been occurring in Lyerly, spefically at Lyerly’s town park. At Tuesday evening’s work session Mayor Wyatt said that he has been researching various options for the problem.
Council members discussed installing cameras and locking park bathrooms at night, citing lack of funds as the main reason for delay.
Trion and Summerville have also been taking measures to curb vandalism in their town parks. Both of those towns have active police forces. Lyerly has no police department and a part-time watchman.
Also at the meeting on Tuesday evening, Mayor Wyatt reminded those in attendance that next week’s regular town council meeting would be held on Thursday instead of Tuesday due to Tuesday being election night. Next week’s meeting will take place at 6:45 PM.
