At last night’s county commissioner’s meeting, Commissioner Jason Winters said that the work at the Lyerly Dam Bridge is about to wrap up. The commissioner stated that the State D.O.T. will inspect the work on the bridge over the next several days, and after that inspection the bridge should be ready to re-open.
The bridge was actually closed at the end of the administration of former County Commissioner Mike Dawson in December and has been the source for problems for residents in the area. Some merchants in Lyerly have noticed a downturn in their business due to less traffic coming into Lyerly from the other side of the Chattooga River.
Commissioner Winters said that barring any problems the bridge should re-open in 7 to 10 days.
