AM 1180 Chattooga Radio News recently learned that the Town of Lyerly is loosing water and is not certain where the water is going or where the problem lies.  According to information obtained by AM 1180 Chattooga Radio News the town’s water department has been trying to track down the loss of several thousand gallons of water that is going out from the town’s water system somewhere.  AM 1180 Chattooga Radio News contacted the town’s water department and was told that there are many areas of the town’s water supply that is transferred in old pipes and that the leak could be anywhere and that it was not an uncommon occurrence for some water to be unaccounted for.  Meanwhile residents remain under water restriction in North Georgia due to the ongoing drought.  Despite recent rainfall Chattooga County remains in a drought condition.  Climatologist and meteorologist say that because there was such a deficit from last year it will be difficult for our area to recover from the drought that began last year.
