Earlier this week the Town of Lyerly closed their offices for two days so that newly elected municipal officials could attend training in Athens. The new council members and the new mayor attended workshops that involved such subjects as "Legal Issues City Officials Face", "Ethics and City Elected Officials", along with city-county relations, sources of revenue and water issues.
Mayor Jessica Eller told AM 1180 "We were provided a large amount of valuable information in a
short length of time; each subject was touched on very briefly. There were several items we would’ve liked to hear more detail on, but we anticipate attending additional training in the future, which would allow us to gain more knowledge on those subjects."
