On Friday AM 1180 reported that the Lyerly Town Council would be meeting next Tuesday in a special called meeting at the Lyerly Town Hall Conference Room. Reportedly the meeting will be held to discuss the ongoing argument between Lyerly and the City of Summerville regarding water for the Mohawk Plant in Lyerly.
According to sources the meeting next Tuesday will be between the Lyerly Mayor and Town Council and the Summerville Mayor and City Council to discuss the issue that has put the two municipalities at odds against each other. Summerville has applied for a $500,000 state grant to run a 12 inch water line from it’s water facility on Filter Plant Road to the Lyerly Mohawk plant. Lyerly currently provides water service to Mohawk and does not want to give up their largest customer to Summerville.
