A Rome man remained at the Floyd County Jail on misdemeanor theft charges after he was found with change taken from the fountain in front of Floyd Medical Center, reports stated.

According to Rome police reports:

Steven Lanier Dooley, 45, of 26 Vineland Drive, was jailed on charges of theft by receiving stolen property and public drunkenness after he was found with change from the fountain in front of the main entrance to Floyd Medical Center.

Reports stated that Dooley was apprehended by police with $29 in pennies, $10.20 in nickels, $19 in dimes and $21.25 in quarters. He’d hidden the change inside of a hat in the bushes, which police took a picture of before returning the money to the hospital.

Dooley remained in jail on $1,490 in bail
