Rome Area news agencies are reporting that an  unidentified man was killed early Tuesday Evening in a tractor accident off GA State Route 100 in Coosa.

The accident happened near the Sod Farm on Hwy. 100 around 6:00 PM. Firefighters, Floyd Co. Police, and Floyd EMS responded to find the man was not revivable.

According to reports the man was killed Tuesday evening after he fell out of a tractor bucket scoop and was run over in western Floyd County, authorities said.

The tractor reportedly ran over the victim on a farm in the 800 block of Fosters Mill Road.

Deputy Coroner Gene Proctor said the victim died of multiple traumas.

“It was an accidental death,” Proctor said. “Apparently he was riding in the bucket scoop of the tractor when it hit a bump and he bounced out. The tractor was unable to stop, and it ran over him. He was killed instantly.”

First responders were dispatched to the area shortly before 6 p.m. Proctor officially declared the fatality at 6:45 p.m.

The identity of the man was not released pending notification of family members.
