A 49 year old man that was working on a tractor off Ridgeway Road on Friday was reportedly run over by a tractor. David “Mutt” Helms is reported to have been repairing the tractor when it ran over him, breaking his pelvic bone, hip and ribs.
When Redmond EMS was called to the scene they found the man had several lacerations and could not walk or stand. Helms was taken to a hospital in Rome by Redmond EMS.
According to Accident Facts published by the National Safety Council, farm accidents – many involving tractors – along with other work-related health problems claim as many as 1300 lives and cause 120,000 injuries a year.
