Rome police are investigating the theft of more than $2,900 after a local man attempted to purchase a motorcycle off the internet from an alleged Canadian woman, reports stated.
According to Rome police reports:
Police reported that a transaction on Craigslist between a Rome man who wanted to purchase a Suzuki Hayabusa model motorcycle corresponded with the owner, who claimed she was from Alberta, Canada.
The two communicated through e-mail and once a price was agreed upon, he sent her a money order for $2,950 in the mail and waited for her to contact him again.
