The word that Chattooga County may be purchasing Paradise Gardens in Pennville has spread to Nashville. Country Music superstar Marty Stuart spoke with AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio for a special edition of our NEWSMAKERS Interview program that will air later this week.
Marty Stuart’s connection with Howard Finster and Paradise Gardens goes back several years when Stuart and his wife country music singer Connie Smith came to meet with Rev. Howard Finster at Paradise Gardens. Finster had painted some art work based on Marty Stuart that lead to eventual friendship between the two.
Stuart told AM 1180 on Monday that he hopes the residents of Chattooga County will realize the importance of Paradise Gardens and work to preserve the home of Finster. Stuart said, "Every small community, and even large cities, but especially small communities – needs a calling card, a charactor, a celebrity, a historical reason to invite people to their community… and I don’t think you could ask for a more colorful charactor (than Howard Finster)"
AM 1180 will broadcast the complete interview with Marty Stuart this coming Friday and then again on Saturday and Sunday….stay tuned for broadcast details.
