Marvin’s Building Materials and Home Centers is pleased to announce plans to open a new store in Summerville, Georgia. The store will soon be under construction at the vacant former Wal-Mart sire on Highway 27 and is expected to open in late July. The Store will feature a 37,000 square foot home center with an attached lawn and garden center and drive thru lumberyard. The store will offer a complete line of building materials, electrical, plumbing, paint, millwork, hardware, tools, and lawn and garden products. Marvin’s is known for its friendly, neighborhood stores that make home improvement projects easy and affordable. "Making it easy for our customers is what Marvin’s is all about," said Boyden Moore, President and CEO. "I would like to thank the mayor, the city counsil, and more specifically Commissioner Jason Winters and David Tidmore, President of the Chamber of Commerce, for their help and support in this project," said Moore.

Marvin’s will hire 25 or more associates to work in the new store. "We like to hire friendly people from the community. All of our stores have a ‘hometown’ feel," said Moore. Begining May 11th the Chamber of Commerce will be collecting employment applications for jobs at the new store. People who are interested may pick up an dturn in application at the Chamber located at 44 highway 48, Monday-Friday, 9-5. Full time and part-time positions are available including management, sales associates, and cashiers. The new store in Summerville is the third of four new stores Marvin’s has planned for 2009. Marvin’s will grand open two previously announced new stores in Andalusia, Alabama on May 29th and Demopolis, Alabama on June 19th. Marvin’s will also close its store in Ft. Payne, Alabama in June. Marvin’s currently operates 25 stores in Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida.
