Yesterday was the annual Menlo Glory Days in Downtown Menlo. Folks turned out for Karaoke Music along wth a parade and the Menlo Lions Club barbeque and heard speeches from political candidates seeking office. All of the candidates for County Commissioner were at the event. Incumbent Mike Dawson, along with Joe Reed and Jason Winters all had booths set up at the event. Blake Jones and the lone Republican in the race, Charles Black were both at the event and all of them addressed the crowd. Incumbent Sheriff Ralph Kellett and his challenger Aubrey "Smitty" Smith both had booths at the event; challenger John Everett attended the event and all three of the candidates addressed the crowd. Some of the candidates indicated that they felt the crowd for the annual pre-fourth of July celebration was down from previous years. The next chance for Chattooga Countians to see and hear those seeking public office will be at the Chattooga County Farm Bureau political forum coming up this Thursday June 26th at the Civic Center in Summerville.
