Police have shut down a methamphetamine lab in Armuchee and two people are in custody facing charges related to the manufacturing of the drug.
The lab was discovered after a lengthy investigation, said Drug Task Force Commander Joey Jacobs, who noted that the “shake and bake” lab was being actively used.
Specialized cleanup crews from Atlanta are on the way to the Armuchee residence located near Richard B. Russell Regional Airport to finish the task.
The home is located in a quite, unsuspecting neighborhood with white fences and well-maintained lawns. Jacobs said the meth lab was not capable of producing a significant amount of the drug, which means it was probably for personal use only.
