The Summerville News is reporting today that Micahel Bright is going to be facing new charges in the death of Richard Shawn Harris.  Harris was shot by Bright in October of 2007.

Last month a jury in Chattooga County found Bright not guilty of murder, but now District Attorney Buzz Franklin is bringing charges of voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault in the shooting death of Harris.

Summerville attorney Albert Palmour succesfully argued a self-defense motive in the shooting death in the trial that took place last month.  According to reports, the self-defense issue created serious debate among jurors during the murder trial.  The jury deliberated for almost two days in the previous Bright trial before reaching a verdict of not guilty.
