One person was injured when a vehicle struck a pole and knocked down a power line about a mile north of Model High School on Calhoun Road on Saturday. One person was taken to Floyd Medical Center and Georgia Power crews were dispatched to the location to complete repairs. According to Floyd County police, a teenager was driving a white Toyota Camry northeast on the road when a red Ford pickup truck that was traveling southwest turned into a private driveway in the driver’s path, causing him to swerve off the road, where the Toyota struck a power pole about 1:30 p.m. The 16-year-old driver was taken to Floyd Medical Center complaining of head and chest injuries. The injuries appeared to be minor. A power line was knocked down due to the crash. Traffic along the road was blocked to allow repairs and the road was reopened to traffic within an hour.
