Model High School Administration officials have fired a high school coach for an "innapropriate" relationship with a student.
Matthew Blanton, a teacher at Model High School has been immediately relieved of his duties as an employee of the Floyd County School System for an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student.
The school system has notified law enforcement and the Professional Standards Commission and is cooperating fully in an ongoing investigation.
According to a statement from the School system “Floyd County Schools has the safety, security and well-being of our students as a top priority. Floyd County Schools will not tolerate any activity that that is not in line with our commitment to excellence or our dedication to the safety and well-being of our students.
The school system can’t comment further on this matter at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
