State Sen. Jeff Mullis of Chickamauga has been appointed to the Senate Future of Manufacturing in Georgia Study Committee by Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle.
The study panel will meet this summer to take a comprehensive look at the current state of manufacturing in Georgia, and possibly recommend new legislation for the 2009 session.
Mullis said it is the intention of the panel to see what can be done to keep Georgia’s manufacturing jobs here.
Created by Senate Resolution 1097, the Future of Manufacturing in Georgia Study Committee will examine Georgia’s business climate to ensure that Georgia is doing everything possible to continue to attract major manufacturers. The panel will evaluate state policies and develop new ideas, such as job creation and incentives to attract industry to Georgia.
The Committee will make a report of its findings, with proposals for any new legislation, prior to the 2009 legislative session.
