Republican State Senator Jeff Mullis that represents Chattooga County along with Walker, Dade and part of Catoosa Counties, told a group at the Walker County Civic Center on Tuesday that their was no quick fix to the fuel price crisis that is facing citizens. Mullis, who chairs the Georgia State Senate Transportation Committee, told the group in attendance that the real solution is to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Mullis also used the opportunity to push for the idea of a high-speed rail line from Chattanooga to Atlanta. Mullis supports the plan for the rail line and says that it would work for transportation as well as moving freight and would free up the congestion at the Atlanta Jackson-Hartsville Airport. Mullis said the suggestion of capping fuel prices isn’t an idea that would prove to be economically wise, suggesting that fuel shortages could prove to be the outcome.
