The hunt for the location where 44-year-old Paty Spivey died is underway both in Floyd and Chattooga Counties, according to Chief Sheriff’s Investigator Larry Kellett.

Spivey was stabbed in the neck and dumped into the Chattooga River after dying, according to a final autopsy report. Inv. Kellett says GBI Medical Examiner Eric Eason found no abnormal liquids or water in Spivey’s lungs.

Kellett told AM 1180 that without an exact determination of the murder scene the investigation is going slowly.  Kellett said that he thinks that due to the Medical Examiner’s report, Spivey was not killed in Chattooga County.  Spivey’s body was found in March of this year in the Chattooga River close to the Lyerly Dam.  Spivey had been missing since January when he was released from prison after serving time for a rape charge.
