The National Day of Prayer will be observed this week in Chattooga County on Thursday.  The National Day of Prayer has been observed since President Harry S. Truman proclaimed the day over 50 years ago. 

Locally, the observance will be held at the Chattooga High School Footbal Field.  The Chattooga County Ministerial Association and the Chattooga County Prayer Force are coordinating the local event.

National Day of Prayer Chairman Shirley Dobson said that President Obama will sign a proclomation for the observence this coming week.  Sources say that the White House has confirmed that the President will issue the proclomation sometime this week.
