GOLF CART OWNERS IN GEORGIA WILL HAVE SOME NEW, STRICTER REQUIREMENTS IF THEY PLAN TO RIDE ON ROADWAYS. AS OF JANUARY 1st, A NEW LAW CREATES A SEPARATE CLASS OF PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION VEHICLES FOR GOLF CARTS… AND REQUIRES THEM TO HAVE BRAKING SYSTEMS, A REVERSE WARNING DEVICE, TAIL LAMPS, A HORN AND HIP RESTRAINTS.
THE NEW LAW ALSO SETS STANDARDS FOR COUNTIES AND CITIES IN GEORGIA THAT WANT TO CREATE ORDINANCES ALLOWING GOLF CARTS TO OPERATE ON RESIDENTIAL STREETS AND MULTI-PURPOSE PATHWAYS.
