Sheriff John Everett told AM 1180 on Wednesday afternoon that "all indications" say that the body found in the Chattooga River on Good Friday was that of a missing woman, Erlana Garett Tramell. Tramell had been missing for several weeks and authorities believed that she was not in any imediate danger.
Everett said that the GBI Crime Lab is continuing to run tests on the body. Determination as to the identity of the body were made by a tatoo and pins in the woman’s ankle, and the preliminary conclusion was that the body is that of Tramell.
Sheriff Everett said that there did not appear to be any trauma and that all internal organs were intact. The investigation is continuing by the Chattooga County Sheriffs Department.
