A new state Labor Career Center has opened in Cedartown.

State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond was on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. A number of local government representatives attended the ceremony, calling the new center a valuable asset for the community’s effort to bring employers and hopeful employees together.

The new Career Center in Cedartown will benefit those hoping to find a new job, as well as new industries that may be setting up positions in the Polk County area, according to County Chamber of Commerce President Eric McDonald. McDonald says establishing the new center had been a cooperative effort between many state and local officials.
