With the merger of Northwestern Tech and Coosa Valley Tech approved by the Technical College System of Georgia, the next step in the process will be a new name for the combined institution.
Sources say the name for the two combined schools could come as early as next week when the existing boards for Coosa Valley Tech and Northwestern Tech meet to choose vice presidents for the newly formed institution.
Craig McDaniel, current president of Coosa Valley Tech, has been named the president of the merged college. The current interim president of Northwestern Technical College, Jeff King, will serve as provost over the Rock Spring campus in Walker County.
The move to combine the two schools is expected to save the state around $3.5 Million.
