Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters told AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio on Monday that a new business may be moving into the county bringing around 20 jobs and revitalizing a retail center in Chattooga County. Winters received word on Monday evening that Marvin’s Home Improvement Stores is taking steps to locate a new retail store in the old Wal Mart building in Summerville. Darrin Gilliam, Senior Vice President of Operations for Marvin’s told Commissioner Winters that, “We’ve been looking at Chattooga County for a long while and have wanted to put a store in Summerville since 2004. With the administrations cooperation and warm hospitality I’ve gladly recommended to our Board to approve this site for 2009 ahead of several other cities we were considering in Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi.” While the deal is not finalized yet, Marvin’s has signed a letter of intent and is working with the developer of the property.  Also the approval of Marvin’s Board of Directors is needed before the deal is done.
