THE LAFAYETTE CITY COUNCIL HAS AGREED TO DONATE LAND TO BUILD A NEW STATE PATROL BARRACKS ON THE 27 BYPASS IN LAFAYETTE. COUNCILMAN BILL CRAIG MADE THE MOTION… SAYING POST COMMANDER DON STULTZ HAD INFORMED HIM THAT WALKER COUNTY GOVERNMENT HAS FUNDS TO BUILD THE NEW FACILITY… THEY JUST NEEDED THE LAND TO PLACE IT.
THE CURRENT BARRACKS IN LAFAYETTE WAS BUILT IN THE 60’S AND POST 41 HAS OUTGROWN IT. THE NEW LOCATION IS ON THE BYPASS, BETWEEN 136 EAST AND THE CITY’S PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING IN THE OLD CARON SPINNING PLANT.
